Spring Awakening

Happy Spring! March came and went before I could even blink and now it is the end April and I am just now finding the space and inspiration to send out a newsletter! I have been learning recently about the importance and necessity of spaciousness in my life. I am learning that this requires the discipline to say no and the cultivation of patience and discernment. Life is moving fast for all of us. When asked how are you, I find most people say "busy" and I include myself in that. I got tired of hearing myself say that so I have been delving into what it would take to allow myself to answer differently.

I am learning that in order to feel fully engaged in what I am creating and receiving, truly less is more. Time to ask those "essential vs unnecessary" questions to all that I was doing with my time.  For me I normally ask: "Do I enjoy it? Is it possible with my schedule? Am I capable?" I enjoy just about everything I do and my days are full of wonderful things. But I am also finding that space or unplanned time is equally as wonderful. There are activities that are deeply satisfying and activities that are quick fixes of shallow delight. I have pockets of time that I can certainly fill and become efficient in how I glide from A to B to C with little to no time wasted but then I feel like a machine instead of a human. I found I was capable of doing a lot of things that when doing them all simultaneously left me feeling rather depleted rather than full.

In essence, I was asking the wrong questions. Recently, I am asking a new question: Will this (fill in the blank) allow me to thrive? I want to feel alive, connected, integrated, full in all I put my time, energy and attention towards. I love having free time to just relax and take it all that is around me, no agenda and freedom to be in the moment and spontaneous. It is so amazing to meet a friend and have the time to let our conversations soak in and to connect deeply. It feels so satisfying to focus on one big project and devote myself to it fully rather than 5 small projects that feel shallow. This feels more like living to thrive than living to survive. I must say after practicing saying no or I will get back to you instead of an immediate yes, letting go of some fun but non essentials items on my schedule, I can breathe more deeply. I am feeling more inspired, rested, and confident that what is transpiring is enough. I don't have to pile my plate to thrive. I can allow my skillful selections to nourish me and be enough and often times more than ever before.

We are in a period of reflection and slowed motion with 5 of the 10 planets in retrograde. So, I share all of this to inspire you too to use this reflection time to slow down and re-examine what you are having tea (Time-Energy-Attention) with in your life? Hopefully all your tea dates are allowing you to enjoy the aromas, the tastes, and the beauty in your cup! And hopefully you too can enjoy some good being time to just take in the beauty of what is around you. You are worthy of that for sure!

Here are some ways for us to connect:
