Planting the new you

This Friday morning a “Pink “ Full Moon in the final degrees of Libra will help close out our not so firey Aries cycle and bring in earthy Taurus. Let’s all be honest this Spring Equinox was not so springy forward. With so much residual Pisces energy and a retrograde Mercury we may have felt like the fog, the lethargy, and the emotional releasing was an uninvited guest that didn’t want to leave. Over the last month I have spoke to so many people (including myself) who have felt so tired and unmotivated during this predictably time of “get up and go”. Aries is the sign with the slogan “Ready, Fire, Aim” and ruled by fiesty Mars it can feel like it is always ready for action or a good fight especially for something we want. Spring is the astrological new year and a great time for new inspirations and creations. This spring however, we have been invited to explore first what needs to be left behind or addressed before we move ahead if indeed we want to move ahead and not repeat the same same. Maybe there is some old emotional baggage to grieve and leave at the door, some much needed rest and recovery, or a pause to ensure we even know where we are going in order to feel into a new way of getting there. With the moon’s nodes inviting us away from the “grin and bear it/all work no play” method and into a new way of moving forward through exploring how we feel, trusting our intuition and taking care of our internal self along the way, it is like we are blindfolded and asked to “feel” our way there moment to moment. We may bump into some things that don’t feel so good but they may be a way the stars’ way of helping us sort out the obstacles that need tending. Bottom line, whatever this spring had in store for you, most likely it was a little heavier or less defined as you may have liked. Never fear, Taurus is here!

The day before we enter this grounding, sensual and peaceful pasture of Taurus we get a full moon in the last degrees of Libra. This air sign allows us relate to the ideas of balance, who to trust and the middle path away from the black and white through relationships. We get to feel into what is unbalanced or where we feel indecisive about which choice to make, or even where we are making enemies with trying to make anything or anyone right or wrong through the mirror of the other. Nothing brings up the worst and the best in us than the people we form relationships with. We can feel we are on the emotional roller coaster with people on this full moon as the “mirror” may be allowing us to see what we wouldn’t have gazed at otherwise. The full moon is called the Pink Moon in reference to the associaltion with Easter and themes of rebirth as well as the blossoming of the pink early flowers of spring. Pink for me is associated with love and compassion and for sweetness. It may be helpful on this full moon to extend a little sweetness to ourselves and others as we are all shedding old skin and rebirthing a new way to set a more fertile and stable foundation for our resurrected selves. Shaking up your foundation can be uncomfortable and unpredictable and that is just how it should be if we really want to do it differently. It isn’t a linear path. There isn’t a right way. There is the relationship with the path and experience of it that we are all getting to relate with! As with any big change we get ungrounded and feel a bit unstable and the Taurus energy will invite us back to the garden to help us find peace and inner contentment as we traverse our path.

The Taurus cycle begins dangerously close to Uranus the master of disaster at times and chaos chef. Not for a lack of purpose but we need to really shake up the soil and add some new dirt to the mix to truly get our new look and to ensure it is going to produce for the long run. We may want to go” up up and away” to get some inspiration for our new selves, but don’t go copying your neighbors garden, make yours sing to your delights! The inspiration is only one part as the real work is getting our hands dirty through practical and simple activities. How can we do this? Sensual pleasures are quite healing so feed your senses-get to know what you like to smell, taste, see and feel. Try new things and enjoy the experience of them. Work with your hands by actually gardening, cooking, painting, sewing…give those hands some new things to do. Maybe even explore a new hobby. Wonder what you will learn about yourself through this? Be in nature more and often. Nothing grounds us and returns us to what is natural and in sync but Mother Nature herself. Why would we do all of this? Because whether we prefer to live in our minds all day (thinking, planning, dreaming or worrying) or admit the fact that we do have a body to take care of, we all are either limited or gifted by our bodies and failure to ignore the messages and impacts our choices have on our bodies will not last very long. Eat, rest, enjoy and take some time to enjoy the simple pleasures of being in a body this month. It may simplify the indecision, lack of clarity or stuckness and even if it does not it will connect you to your body and the foundation of any new persona that you are crafting! It usually works out that less can be more and that the answers we seek are much simpler than we imagine. So let the Taurus vibe teach you about the “bare necessities of life”

The Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book)

Phil HarrisBruce Reitherman

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Well next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue?

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Oh man this is really living
So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
With just the bare necessities of life
